As an artist working in advertising, Joash is intimately familiar with the way that two seemingly contradictory forces can exist in the same entity.

While art and commercialism are often presented as mutually exclusive, the truth is that not all art is pure and free of the influence of money, and not all ads are soulless and devoid of creativity.

With this defining contradiction as his starting point, Joash uses his work to explore how the seemingly conflicting forces interact, and even coexist.

He also explores the liminal spaces between these two seeming extremes, the gray areas, the ambiguities. Using multimedia, Joash infuses his work with conundrums, while at the same time maintaining a humorous perspective.
